Missouri Department of Conservation

Welcome to MDC Online Fish Kill Event Reporting

Report a Concern

The Missouri Department of Conservation wants to know about fish kills and water quality issues that may affect the health of Missouri fish and wildlife. Since the 1940s, MDC has relied largely on citizens to help track and monitor fish kills. The Fish Kill Event Reporting Tool makes it easier than ever to join the conservation team in protecting the fish and wildlife of Missouri.

Here's How it Works

  • Click “Report a Water Quality Event” near the top of this page to report your fish kill or water quality concern.
  • Answer a few questions to describe your concern and click “Submit” near the bottom of the page.
  • Your report is saved in the MDC fish kill and pollution database, and a local MDC representative is notified. The local MDC representative will determine if further action is needed, such as an on-site investigation.

Please be sure to leave a call-back number or email address in case an MDC representative needs to contact you with follow-up questions.

MDC will not share your contact information. However, if you wish to report anonymously, call your local MDC office or Department of Natural Resources office during normal business hours, or the Department of Natural Resources Environmental Emergency Response call center at any time of day.
