Buttonbush

Cephalanthus occidentalis

Description

Found throughout the state in low, wet woods, swamps and along borders of streams and ponds. The flowers are fragrant, white, round clusters about 1 to 1-1/2 inches across and are a favorite nectar source for bees. Many birds eat the nutlets and nest in the branches. Does best on moist sites. Height at maturity is 18 ft.

Uses
