Asimina triloba

Description

This small tree has large drooping, pear-shaped leaves that are slightly aromatic. Flowers are inconspicuous and are green upon opening and turn to dark purple or maroon in color. The edible fruit is large, yellow-green 3 to 6 inches long and ripen in September. Fruits have a thin skin, which contain a yellow custard-like pulp. The leaves turn bright yellow in the fall. Height at maturity is 20 ft.
